About Fijian

Fiji is a nation that is located in the end of Melanesia and the beginning of the Polynesia. Because of this geographical feature, it has had compositive characteristic in race and sociocultural aspects of Fiji.

Its residents consist of Fijians, Indian, Chinese and Europeans, and the Fijians have the highest rate of the residents.

Their lifestyle is very unique. The women in this country possess the Snitoa, some red petals and the Bua, some white petals. On the other hand, the men in this country wear skirts, Sulu as their suits.

The Fijians repeat to greet to the strangers who contacted eyes with them and they hate the act of touching the children's heads because they think the acting make the children's soul escape.

Most Fijians live in the beaches away from the city, and they make the thatched houses behind of the mangrove. Also, there remains the chief system, so there are chief conferences once a year.

If you visit there, you can experience marvelous ceremonies, 'Sebusebu' and 'Yangonya'. 'Sebusebu' is a ceremony that ask for the permission to enter the village and 'Yangonya' is a ceremony that show they don't have some wariness to the village by presenting the root of 'Yangonya'. These ceremonies reflect the Fijians welcome the all visitors who visit their town.
